Pre Matric
Scholarship for Minority Students provides financial support for the
children's of minority community such as Muslim, Christain, Buddhist,
Sikhs & Parsis to complete their school education. The scholarship
will be awarded for studies in India in any government or private school
including a residential school from class I to Xth. The scholarship
will be provided for the entire duration of the course and will include
admission fees, tuition fees and maintenance allowance of the course.
The selection of students for the
Pre-matric Minority Scholarship Scheme will be done on the basis of
academic merit and financial condition of the student. Out of the total
number of scholarships, 30% will be reserved for girl students.
Eligibility
Eligibility criteria for Pre-Matric scholarship for minority students:1. You must belong to a minority committee to be eligible for this scheme.
2. You must be studying in class I-X in private or government school recognised by your state/UT.
3. You must have scored not less than 50% marks in your last qualifying exam
3. Annual income from all sources of the parents/guardians of the candidate should not exceed Rs.1 Lakh

Procedure
Application for Pre-Matric Scholarship for Minority Students can be made online through National Scholarship Portal.- Candidates need to go through online registration process before applying for scholarship

- Again click on NewUser/Register tab to register yourself on the site. If you have already registered then just click on login tab to access the online application form
- Fill in the application form upload the necessary documents and submit the form
Minority Scholarships
The minorities, who constitute more than 21% of India’s total
population, as per 2011 census, includes Muslims, Christians, Sikhs,
Buddhists and Zoroastrians communities. A significant percentage of
people among these communities are lagging behind on all fronts of
development. One of the primary reason for their economic and social
backwardness is lack of access to modern education system. To confront

are to uplift the poor and less fortunate students of these communities

Here are some important minority scholarships schemes launched by Ministry of Minoities Affairs, Government of India.
a. Minority Scholarships for class 10th and below students
1. Pre-Matric Minority Scholarships scheme
The main objective of this minority scholarship scheme is to provide
financial support to parents of minority community so that they can
pursue their children’s primary or elementary level education. Thus by
empowering them financially, pre-matric scholarship scheme has succeeded
in luring parents of minority community to send their children to
school, thereby reducing school drop-out rates
b. Minority Scholarships for class 11th and above students

The main aim of this minority scholarship is to provide financial
assistance to students belonging to economically backward section of
minority community so that they can pursue higher technical education,
thereby increasing their employability in mainstream economy.
c. Minority Scholarships for undergraduate students
1. Merit cum means Scholarship for Minority Students
Merit cum means Scholarship for Minority Students provides financial
support to the students belonging to minority communities, encouraging
them to pursue professional and technical courses.
The ultimate goal of this scheme is to provide financial aid to poor
and meritious students of minority community so that they can pursue
professional and technical education, thereby increasing their
employment opportunities in today’s knowledge-based economy.
2. Post-Matric Minority Scholarship scheme
The main aim of this minority scholarship is to provide financial
assistance to students belonging to economically backward section of
minority community so that they can pursue higher technical education,
thereby increasing their employability in mainstream economy.
d. Minority Scholarships for civil services
1. Nai Udaan for Minority Students
Nai Udaan for Minority Students provide financial support to the
minority candidates clearing prelims conducted by UPSC, SSC and SPSC and
assist them to compete for appointment in Civil Services.
e. Minority Scholarships for higher studies (M.Phill & P.hD)
1. Maulana Azad National Fellowship For Minority Students
Maulana Azad National Fellowship For Minority Students provides
financial support to the minority communities students to encouraging
them to pursue higher studies such as M. Phil and Ph.D.
f. Minority Scholarships to study abroad
1. Padho Pradesh Interest Subsidy for Minority Students
The main objective of this scheme is to encourage meritious students
from minority community to take up technical and professional studies in
foreign universities. International exposure during their time in
higher studies provides them with better job opportunities both in India
as well as foreign countries
g. Scholarships for minority women
Empowering women through education is the primary motive of minority
women scholarship. Minority affairs of India designed various
scholarships programme for minority women so that they can pursue
higher education in technical and professional field and work
shoulder-to-shoulder with their male counterparts.
1. Maulana Azad National Scholarship for Girls
Maulana Azad National Scholarship for Girls awards scholarship to
support girl students belonging to the minority communities, hence
encouraging them and their families to pursue their higher education

financial aid to less fortunate students within their community. These
